We are still here – Chief Arvol Lookinghorse

November 11, 2016 By Donna Caesar Leave a Comment

On September 20, 2016 Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman David Archambault II addressed the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, to build international opposition to the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline near the reservation.

This video was made in collaboration with Chief Arvol Lookinghorse to bring voice to how spirituality and cosmology are woven into this #NoDAPL resistance. Not only does this pipeline threaten the physical beings we can see and touch but also the metaphysical aspects of Indigenous knowledge. In addition to being a non-violent movement of resistance, this is also a movement of prayer and revitalization of our culture.

By standing up against the Dakota Access Pipeline we are protecting and renewing our traditional ways, our culture, our language and the spiritual guidance we get from the Earth, Water and Sky.
