Upon invitation by the local Baha’i group we visited Rochester in Upstate New York. Jemeul Thompson and his family welcomed us with a wonderful home cooked lunch and showed us around. We learned that the city was home to Frederick Douglass, human rights leader in the anti-slavery movement and the first African-American citizen to hold a high U.S. government rank.
Situated at the South shore of Lake Ontario, the Rochester area has been the birthplace to such corporations as Kodak, Bausch & Lomb, Gleason and Xerox that conduct extensive research and manufacturing of hight tech products.
We were impressed by the waterfall in the middle of the city that harbors a mill for flour and mustard seeds.
The Peace Experience Documentary was then shown at the Baha’i Center, followed by a discussion, fellowship and an impromptu gathering with prayers, songs and meditation for Peace & Love within and without.
Thank you everyone for attending and making our stay so magnificent. A special thanks goes to Jemeul and Miah for the amazing organization and for so warmly welcoming us.
Thanks for the great article
