Rajiv Prasad

A proud immigrant, international businessman, avid historian, and patriarch of one of five Indian families that settled in the town of Franklin in 1977, Prasad joined Franklin Township Council’s governing body from 2006 until 2019, serving Franklin as a voice for the Indian community, which now numbers 15,000 people in a town with a total population of 70,000.

Rajiv Prasad now shares his reflections on the world and the profound spiritual path that ultimately guided him to his Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. His introduction to Self-Realization Fellowship and his unique path to becoming a member and Kriya Yogi are filled with captivating stories about India and the childhood of Yoganandaji.

Rajiv’s grandfather was Yoganandaji’s best childhood friend, and Rajiv’s fascinating stories about Yoganandaji and his grandfather are deeply heart opening. The manner in which his Guru brought him to the path is a very intriguing, and the immense love of the Guru for his disciple reflected in this interview is so heart warming and affirming.

Rajiv also explains how his Peace organization has played a strong and essential role in creating justice and diversity in the New Jersey area.

Assemblyman Danielsen presented Prasad with a commemorative plaque to thank him for his years of commitment to the township and praised Prasad for his ability to bring people together and thanked him for educating him on the many cultures, religions, and languages that make up Franklin Township.

“Allow me to remind you, councilman, that you have many righteous accomplishments that only you own and only have your name on it,” he said.
