Juan Lemagne
Juan Lemagne was born on Nov 5, 1927 in Montanazas, Cuba. He had three sisters and three brothers. He and one of his sisters went to jail during the Fidel Castro regime. They were in prison for three years. He found his Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda as a young man at the Cuba Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) center. His father was a disciple first and introduced him to the Master. He took his Kriya from Jose Cuaron in 1957 in Cuba. Once he left Cuba he spent 4 months in Spain. From Spain he then came to America with his sister.
There are many miraculous stories about Juan and his Guru. Especially, about how the Guru protected him during his years in prison. His mother and father eventually came to New York. He worked in construction until he retired. During his New York life, he always served as an Usher. In 1970 he came to convocation and met Daya Mata.
Once in Cuba he almost married but his fiancee did not come to America and eventually married another man with whom she had a son, who very much became like Juan’s son. He still has a sister and niece in New York.
The level of his love and devotion for his Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, is an example for many monastics and Lay disciples alike. He recognized his Guru very deeply at the first visit to the Cuba center and has been serving his Guru ever since.
