In September, Rwanda did something no other African nation has dared: it put a self-flying passenger drone into the skies. The EHang EH216-S, an electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) craft built to carry two people without a pilot, climbed about 100 meters over Kigali in a short but historic demonstration.
Yes, it was just a test flight. But symbolically, it puts Rwanda in the same sentence as Dubai, Beijing, and Paris—the places that have already tested air taxis. For a small landlocked nation, that’s no small feat.
